Bengaluru: Alleging that the ruling BJP government has staged ‘theatrics’ to cover up the Mangaluru police killings, former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the videos released by the government in connection to the violence were all fake.
Releasing a video, claiming that the investigation of the firing has been derailed, HDK said that the video that he has released is authentic.
“The police crossed its limits and assaulted not just the protesters, but also the civilians. The evidence I have shows that the police had assaulted innocent people,” he said releasing 35 visuals, claiming that the government had twisted the entire incident.
While stating that he will take up the issue in the assembly, HDK said that the behaviour of city police chief Harsha too was suspicious.
“The police provoked the protesters. Harsha must be suspended immediately. Protests were held in all 30 districts of the state. Why only Mangaluru faced the violence of this kind,” he questioned and added that the government itself has sided with the police.
It may be recalled that the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act turned violent in Mangaluru recently. During the course of the protests, the police opened fire, due to which two persons lost their lives.
