Bengaluru: In a sensational revelation, former CM HD Kumaraswamy claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had invited him to the NDA fold and offered the CM’s post to him just before the Lok Sabha election. “But I refused the offer to prevent secular forces from enjoying power in the state,” he claimed.
Speaking to the reporters in Belagavi, he stated that if he was hungry for power, he could have joined hands with BJP and remained CM for a full term. “But for the sake of keeping the secular forces at bay in the state, I rejected the offer,” he said.
“Modi offered me the CM post and a free hand in running the administration,” he revealed.
His statement came in response to the criticism by former CM Siddaramaiah that JDS is trying to strike a deal with the BJP.
