Mohammed Haris Nalapad surrenders before police

Bengaluru: Congress MLA N A Haris’ son Mohammed Haris Nalapad, who is facing charges of assaulting a youth at a pub in Bengaluru has surrendered before the Cubbon Park police on Monday morning.

Nalapad had brutally assaulted 24-year-old youth Vidwath, son of a businessman from Vasanthanagar, at Farzi Cafe in UB City around 10 p.m. on Saturday and had then gone absconding.

The Cubbon Park police filed an FIR against Nalapad and his friends under sections of IPC 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint) 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation).

Cubbon Park police is expected to produced Nalapad before the magistrate in the afternoon. It may be recalled that Nalapad was expelled from the Congress party soon after the incident hit headlines.

Following Nalapad’s surrender, many from the opposition BJP and JD(S) began protesting outside Cubbon Park police station demanding stern action.
