Former Infosys CFO Mohandas Pai has intensified his criticism of the Karnataka government, specifically targeting the poor infrastructure in Bengaluru that heavy rains have recently brought to light. Pai’s remarks came in response to Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s praise for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who Rao claimed prioritizes citizen welfare despite limited central funds.
On X (formerly Twitter), Rao commended Karnataka’s economic contributions, asserting that the state’s tax revenues fuel national growth. He pointed out that Karnataka remains a top economic performer, despite being “denied its rightful GST share” by the Union government. Rao praised initiatives launched under Siddaramaiah to empower citizens and address development issues.
Pai, acknowledging Karnataka’s contributions, questioned the government’s effectiveness over the past 18 months, remarking, “This is great, but can you tell us what you have done for Bengaluru over the last 18 months? Our lives have become more miserable, and corruption has increased.” In response, Rao urged Pai to support their call for Karnataka’s rightful share of GST, noting the importance of equitable tax devolution, which is determined by the Finance Commission.
In an October 24 post, Pai directed comments at the CM and ministers, citing the public’s “huge anger” over unresolved issues related to roads, drainage, and traffic management on the Outer Ring Road. He called for urgent action, emphasizing that misgovernance is causing significant hardship for residents.
