Magadi: The district police raided an illegal slaughterhouse at Tavarekere of Tumkur district and rescued around 65 cattle from the premises.

The slaughter house was secretly operating at the Shaukat Ali Stables in the border area of Magadi taluk and Tumkur district.

Acting on a tip-off from an animal welfare organisation from Bengaluru, Kudur Police raided the illegal establishment and confiscated more than 65 cattle cleverly hidden from plain view.

Police said that the animals were bought from farmers at cheap prices and slaughtered for their meat.

The confiscated animals have been handed over to a Gaushala at Gubbi in Tumkur district. Police are on the lookout for the culprits who ran the illegal establishment.
