Bengaluru: Was Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s tweet on terrorism a part of the BJP’s larger game plan to deflect attention from issues that cropped just a few hours before the crucial final campaign before the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections?
The BJP state unit is abuzz with speculation that the MP’s tweet was intentionally made to deflect the people’s attention from issues such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s press meet, the violence in West Bengal etc. The reason for these speculations is that Nalin is known for making controversial statements and not tweets.
“Nalin’s Kannada is not so good. He is a good orator, not a writer. If you read all the three tweets very carefully you can see that it has been written in a very flowery language. It is definitely not Nalin’s language,” explained a BJP leader who wished to be unnamed.
The leader added that Nalin has now become part of the BJP inner circle. “The BJP wanted a tweet to dilute the attention, especially after the Prime Minister’s flop press meet, violence in West Bengal, destruction of statues in Bengal etc. So, Nalin’s Twitter handle was used,” he explained.
Another leader stated that Nalin is not a frequent tweeter. “He rarely tweets, although he is good in re-tweeting. It is sad that some leaders are used as foot soldiers,” explained another leader.
