Bengaluru: Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh urged union railway minister Piyush Goyal to implement exclusive train coaches for women between Mysuru and Bengaluru in the mornings and evenings.
In her letter to Goyal, Sumalatha informed that thousands of women, especially garments workers from Mysuru, Mandya, Channannapatna and Ramanagara travel to Bengaluru every day for work.
“To ensure their safety inside the trains, and to make travel hassle-free for women, exclusive train coaches are required in the morning and evenings,” she urged.
She also urged the railway minister to start an RPF training unit in K R Nagar for general employment locally.
Sumalatha Ambareesh expressed confidence of getting a nod for her demands in the upcoming union budget.
