The International Yoga Day will be celebrated in grandeur at Mysuru Palace Grounds on June 21, with an estimated 15,000 yoga enthusiasts expected to participate, reflecting the city’s status as a global yoga hub.
At a preparatory meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) P. Shivaraju stressed the importance of meticulous planning and execution. The event will adhere strictly to government protocols, with participants advised to wear T-shirts and track pants, and bring their own yoga mats. A rehearsal session has been scheduled for June 15 to facilitate smooth proceedings.
Participants will include students, representatives from yoga institutes, NCC, NSS, and various educational institutions. The Mysuru City Corporation has been assigned to maintain venue cleanliness and water supply, while KSRTC will handle transportation for attendees. The Palace Board will provide space and volunteers for crowd management.
To ensure safety, officials have been directed to arrange ambulances, fire services, drinking water, and sanitation facilities. Srihari of Yoga Foundation Mysuru shared that last year’s turnout was 10,000 and the current goal is to exceed that. He credited the early planning and coordination under ADC Shivaraju and Ayush Officer Renuka Devi for the efficient groundwork.
Participants will receive certificates, and breakfast will be arranged for all. Officials were also instructed to give the event widespread publicity to maximize participation. The event’s promotional materials were unveiled by Shivaraju, with DDPI Javaregowda and other dignitaries present.
