Bengaluru: MP and newly appointed BJP state unit president Nalin Kumar Kateel has his first challenge in hand. He has commenced discussions with the party’s Bengaluru unit leaders on reclaiming the BBMP Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts, the elections for which may be announced at any time.
On Wednesday night Nalin, who is considered to be a light weight personality compared to the senior leaders from the city, held several rounds of discussions with the party MLAs, corporators and ministers. He also visited the residence of revenue minister R Ashoka, who is still unhappy about losing the Deputy Chief Minister post.
After the discussion, both the leaders announced that the party will work out a strategy to win the Mayor and Deputy Mayor posts. Ashoka made it clear that he is a disciplined party leader and that there is no question of a rebellion.
According to sources, the JD(S) and Congress are not serious about continuing their alliance and no leader is interested in strategizing a win in the election.
