Bengaluru: Former managing director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Pradeep Singh Kharola’s deputation to the post of Air India CMD is mired in a controversy, with an RTI activist alleging that the officer had submitted fake documents for the Central government appointment. Dinesh Kallahalli from Kanakapura has submitted a complaint in this regard to the Vidhana Soudha police.
“After serving as managing director of BMRCL, Kharola has presently been appointed as Chief Managing Director (CMD) of Air India. However, Kharola is named as an accused in a criminal defamation suit and according to the prescribed norms, is not eligible for the central government deputation”, Dinesh has complained while informing that as per the norms an officer who gets deputed to Central service from the state should not have criminal cases.
“Moreover, he has submitted documents that he is not facing any criminal charges. Former chief secretary of Government of Karnataka Subhash Chandra Khuntia and Department of Personnel and Administrative Services (DPAR) Secretary Anil Kumar too have supported him. An investigation should be initiated against them”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Vidhana Soudha police said that they would get an expert opinion before lodging the complaint.
