Karnataka: Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar has announced that the students from Northern part of Karnataka who missed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG due to delay in train, on Sunday, will be allowed to re-take the exam.
This comes as a huge relief to scores of students who could not appear for the crucial examination after the Hampi Express reached Bengaluru almost seven hours after its scheduled arrival time.
Javadekar has put up a tweet in this regard and Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy thanked Prakash Javadekar for the same.
On Sunday, when the issue of the students missing the exam came to light, Chief Minister HD Kumarswamy had asked the Centre to intervene.
Karnataka Chief Secretary Vijaya Bhaskar had communicated to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and then the CM also held a meeting with the Medical Education Department and the Chief Secretary on Monday.
The date for retest is yet to be announced.
