Bengaluru: The new initiative of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has helped women in a big way. Women, who had to otherwise struggle to board Namma Metro had a relaxed journey on Monday as the metro earmarked the first two doors to women. This move ensured a lot of comfort to women.
There was a good response to the new initiative on the first day and women appreciated BMRCL. To review the new service, BMRCL Managing Director Mahendra Jain visited Metro station of MG Road and interacted with women.
Speaking to media persons, he said, “We have planned to begin the service from March 1, during the peak hours. First one week will be observation period, and based on the response of the public, we will think of changes and extension if needed.”
He clarified that women may board the train at any bogie, but men should not enter through first two doors and they should not get down from there. Few women requested to earmark last two bogies for women, instead of the first two. Mahendra Jain said that they would review the request.
