In a major relief for commuters, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) has opened a long-pending 1.5-km road link connecting Deepanjali Nagar Junction to NICE Road, significantly reducing travel time towards the Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway.
Trial run begins for key connector
The Bengaluru Traffic Police confirmed that the newly constructed four-lane corridor has been opened on a trial basis. Though formal inauguration by the Karnataka government is pending, the link is already operational for public use.
The new stretch connects Deepanjali Nagar directly to NICE Road, offering smoother access to several key areas including Hosakerehalli, Banashankari 6th Stage, Kanakapura Road, Hosur Road, and Challaghatta.
Faster access to Mysuru route
The link is expected to benefit travellers heading towards Mysuru in particular. With direct connectivity via Challaghatta, commuters can now bypass congested city roads, reducing both travel time and stress.
The improved route also connects seamlessly to major arterial roads such as Magadi Road and Tumakuru Road, enhancing cross-city mobility.
Relief from Mysore Road congestion
Mysore Road has long been one of Bengaluru’s most congested stretches, especially during peak hours. The new link provides an alternative route, helping motorists avoid heavy traffic bottlenecks.
Officials noted that the project could nearly halve travel time for those heading towards the expressway, marking a significant improvement in connectivity.
Paid access and commuter response
While the new route offers convenience, commuters will need to pay a toll to use NICE Road. Despite the added cost, many are expected to opt for the route to save time and avoid traffic congestion.
The trial phase will help authorities assess traffic flow, commuter response, and operational efficiency before a formal launch.
Boost to city infrastructure
The opening of this long-delayed link is seen as a positive step in addressing Bengaluru’s growing traffic challenges. Improved connectivity and reduced congestion are expected to benefit daily commuters and long-distance travellers alike.
