Bengaluru: A recent survey conducted by Creative Center for Political and Social Studies (COPS)has predicted that the BJP will bag 113 seats in the upcoming state Assembly elections while the ruling Congress may secure 86 seats and 25 for JD(S) if a poll were held today.

Interestingly, the BJP had come to power in the state with 113 seats back in 2008. The survey, conducted in July 2017, has been done in the backdrop of the communal tensions in the coastal region following the killing af a RSS worker. The BJP has organised protests in the aftermath of this incident demanding a ban on the PFI, SDPI outfilts.

Recently a survey conducted by C-fore agency had however predicted that Congress will maintain its stronghold in the state with 120-132 seats while the BJP would secure 60-72 seats.

COPS predicts that the Congress would however win a majority of the seats in the Old Mysuru region, winning 21 of 37 seats and could win 16 of the 32 seats in Bengaluru region, leaving the BJP with 14 and the JD(S) with 2.

According to the COPS survey, BJP will make a clean sweep in Coastal, Mumbai Karnataka and Hyderabad-Karnataka regions. Of the 40 seats in HK, it will be 25 seats for BJP; in Mumbai-Karnataka, out of 56 seats, BJP will win 36. However in Central Karnataka, both ruling Congress and BJP could win an equal number of seats.
