Bengaluru: There may be much criticism against the new traffic penalties, but in reality, this new rule is streamlining the system. According to the state transport department sources, as many as 3.2 lakh people have applied for Driving License, across the state in a span of just 15 days.
“It is a huge number,” said Shivaraj Patil, Joint Director, Transport department.
According to the sources in the transport department, all these days these persons were either driving vehicles without a DL or using the fake DL documents. “This number is significant as in the event of accidents, the victims were suffering. Finally, something good is happening,” explained a senior officer.
Meanwhile, the transport department has decided to start DL melas across the state to ensure that all the needy get DL easily. “There are complaints that money is collected to issue DLs. We will try to ensure that people get the document easily,” he explained.
