Bengaluru: A group of youth held a unique protest here in front of the BJP office in Malleshwaram condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s comment that a person earning Rs 200 a day by selling Pakodas is also employed.
A group of MSc, MA and engineering students on Saturday January 27, put up a stall in front of BJP office in Malleshwaram and sold hot Pakodas at just Rs 10 condemning Modi’s comment.
The protesters alleged that the stall they have put up infront of BJP office was not for fun but it symbolised their pain and condemnation. “Pakoda business was not started by Modi. When we asked for employment, he is giving us the example of Pakoda selling. We intend to meet PM Modi on February 4 and discuss about youth and providing them employment. If not, our Pakoda stall will continue to function here”, they threatened the BJP leaders.
“We will not forgive a prime minister who speaks lightly on Pakoda sellers and farmers,” they lashed out.
It may be recalled that while answering a question on employment during an interview telecast recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked, “If a man selling Pakodas outside the Zee TV office takes home Rs 200 at the end of the day, is that not employment?”, evoking criticism especially from the youth who believe that Modi has not delivered anything to provide employment to them.
