Following an extensive review of over 1,000 CCTV cameras in the area, the NIA identified Mussavir Hussain Shazib as the prime suspect in the Bengaluru cafe blast. Shazib, originally from Shivamogga in Karnataka’s Thirthahalli district, was identified wearing a distinctive cap in various CCTV footage. The investigation revealed that the cap was purchased from a mall in Chennai, suggesting that the suspect had been residing there for over a month since January of the current year.
The NIA also identified one of Shazib’s associates as Abdul Mateen Taha, who hails from Thirthahalli and was allegedly involved in the murder of Tamil Nadu police inspector K Wilson. Taha is reported to have resided with the main suspect in Chennai.
With these developments, the total number of detentions in connection with the Bengaluru cafe blast has risen to four, including Maz Muneer and Muzammil Shareef.
