Bengaluru: A Nigerian woman, believed to be in her 30s, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in the Chikkajala area near Yelahanka on Wednesday morning. Authorities suspect foul play and have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
While police have tentatively identified the woman and confirmed she hails from Cross River State in Nigeria, they are awaiting official verification before releasing her name. “There is a visible wound on the left side of her forehead and indications of strangulation,” stated one of the investigators. The body was transported to the government hospital in Yelahanka for a postmortem examination. Police expect the autopsy to determine the precise cause of death.
The lifeless body was located in an isolated spot within Telecom Layout, Bettahalasur—an area close to Yelahanka, largely deserted and sparsely populated. The location of the discovery has added to suspicions surrounding the nature of the crime. Officers are now collecting forensic evidence and scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas.
Sources within the police department suggest that more details, including the motive and possible suspects, will emerge once the identity is fully confirmed and the medical report is in. They are also coordinating with the Nigerian embassy to trace the woman’s background and alert her family.
The incident has raised concerns about safety in secluded urban pockets and brought attention to the need for improved surveillance and protection for migrant communities in the city.
