Bengaluru– In a major crackdown on international drug trafficking, Bengaluru police on Friday arrested a 25-year-old Nigerian woman with 5.3 kg of MDMA crystals valued at over ₹10 crore, near Chikkajala on the city outskirts.

The accused, Akinwunmi Princess Ifeoluwa, had been residing in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar for the past four years after arriving in India in 2021 on a student visa, though she never enrolled in any institution, police officials revealed.

She was caught red-handed while allegedly waiting for a customer to pick up the concealed consignment. The bust was the result of a joint operation by the Chikkajala Police and the Central Crime Branch (CCB)’s Anti-Narcotics Wing, which has been probing drug networks involving foreign nationals.

According to investigators, Ifeoluwa was acting on the instructions of a friend identified only as Asa. She reportedly collected a bag in Delhi containing 11 salwar suits, within which the MDMA was hidden. “I was told to deliver the bag to someone in Bengaluru. I never met the sender and the receiver did not show up,” she told police.

Officers said a car briefly arrived at the rendezvous point in Tarahunase village near Chikkajala but sped away, possibly alerted to the ongoing operation, prompting officers to act swiftly and detain her.

Ifeoluwa also admitted she initially planned to study in Telangana but dropped the idea, later turning to drug peddling for quick money.

Authorities are investigating the role of her boyfriend and have alerted the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), as her visa expired in 2022.
