Bengaluru: As the confusion over who will be the next Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president continues, the current chief Dinesh Gundu Rao said that the doubts will be cleared at the earliest.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, January 16, he said, “There are no confusions of any sort regarding the selection process for the next KPCC president. I’m confident that the Congress party high command will appoint a new president very soon.”
On the other hand, senior Congress leader K H Muniappa said, “The party’s high command will not bend to any pressure by any of its leaders. It will take its own decision at its own time. The high command has taken the opinions of all the party leaders. The media is speculating that Congress leaders D K Shivakumar and M B Patil are in the race, but none of the media personnel knows what is cooking at the high command level. In my opinion, the name of the new KPCC president will most probably be announced by next week.”
He added, “Our party leaders have suggested my name to AICC interim-president Sonia Gandhi for the KPCC president’s post. I’m not aware of what the high command has discussed with the Leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah. Nonetheless, whatever the decision is and whoever becomes the next president, we will all work together as we have greater responsibilities, being the largest national political party.”
