Bengaluru: A disruption in the KSRTC and BMTC services is expected to occur on January 8 and 9 as various employees’ groups have announced their support for a national-level strike called by the leftist labour unions.
According to sources both with the KSRTC and BMTC, the employee unions have submitted a memorandum to the managing directors of both the state-run corporations regarding the strike along with eight of their major demands.
The demands including fixing Rs 18,000 as the minimum wage at the entry level of the corporation jobs, ending the contract job system etc. “The services are expected to get disrupted on both the days. The general public needs to make alternative arrangements,” informed an officer from the labour welfare section.
