Bengaluru: With the rumours of renaming Ramanagar district making rounds, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa himself has clarified that no such proposal is on his table right now.
There are reports that the district, which shot to fame after shooting of Bollywood classic Sholay was shot here, will be named as ‘Nava Bengaluru’.
Former CM HD Kumarswamy, whose wife Anita Kumarswamy represents the assembly segment too has said that he will not allow the renaming of the district. Close on the heels of this statement, the CM himself said that a lot of unnecessary discussions are being held with regard to the renaming of the district.
“There is no such proposal before the government. The Congress and the JDS is holding meaningless discussions, ” said the CM suspecting that the Congress and the JDS may be doing all this to create confusion in the region.
