Bengaluru: Sandalwood actress Shruthi Hariharan has reiterated that her decision of filing a sexual harassment under #MeToo campaign against Sandalwood actor Arjun Sarja was ethical and right on her part.

In a conversation with senior journalist Barkha Dutt at a Facebook event “We The Women” at Hotel Lalith on Sunday, November 3, the actress said, “I have experienced sexual harassment and for the complaint that I filed, I am truly proud of myself. I have no regrets for earning less chances of acting in movies after the incident.”

“To be frank, I have absolutely no cinema projects currently, which is okay for me as I’m happy with my three-month-old daughter and husband. I hope that I’ll get a chance to act in future soon as I was awarded a national award, recently”, she added.

Speaking about how she had fought the case in the court, Shruthi said, “During the hearing of my case, lawyers were saying that it was not enough if I produce only instances that had taken place verbally. They asked me to produce evidence of physical abuse. Cases pertaining to #MeToo, unfortunately will not be having any such evidence. It is only that you make up your mind and face it courageously.”

Meanwhile, she has given a call to all the girls and women of the country to fight against such instances with strong willpower and keep their ‘beautiful’ slippers ready to handle such situations.

It can be recalled that, in the year 2018, Shruthi had accused actor Arjun Sarja of sexually harassing her during a movie shoot in the year 2015. Based on her complaint, Cubbon Park Police had filed an FIR against the actor and had begun the investigation.

In the meantime, Sandalwood actor Late “Rebel Star” Ambareesh too tried to settle the matter calling for one to one meeting of the actors in the Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce (KFCC), which did not pay off.

Arjun Sarja had also filed a defamation suit of Rs 5 crores against Shruthi.
