A woman molested by a man on a two-wheeler at Bengaluru’s bustling Ecoworld tech park has spoken out, urging society to break its silence and address the lack of respect for personal boundaries.
Recalling the May 1 attack around 11:30 PM, she said she was struck forcefully from behind while walking, initially thinking it was an accident. “But when it happened again—harder—I knew it was intentional,” she told NDTV. Despite shouting for help and flagging down auto drivers and passersby, no one intervened. “That’s what shocked me the most—the apathy in such a crowded place.”
After the third attempt, she rushed to a security booth and filed a police complaint the next day. Senior officers are personally overseeing the investigation. “I’m hoping the culprit is caught. If not, he’ll harm others too,” she said.
The survivor stressed the importance of shedding the stigma around speaking up. “This isn’t just about blame—it’s about accountability. Society needs to change how it raises boys and how it responds to such acts.” She also advocated for consent and boundary-respect education in schools.
She refuses to see herself as a victim. “The person who did this is the one broken enough to feel powerful by violating someone else. Women need to stop hiding. We are not the problem.”
She concluded with a powerful message: “No amount of cameras or guards can replace empathy and the courage to act.”
