Bengaluru: After Mekedatu padayatra in the first week of January which helped the party to consolidate the Vokkaliga vote bank in the old Mysuru region, now Congress is planning to carry out Kalyana Kranti Yatre in 41 crucial Lingayat dominated constituencies of Hyderabad-Karnataka region where BJP swept itself to victory in 2018 election.
Party Working President Eshwar Khandre made this announcement.
“Our idea is exposing the lies of BJP,” he said.
According to Khandre, the dates will be finalised after the State Government relaxes the Covid – 19 norms.
“Both former CM Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President D. K. Shivakumar will participate in this padayatra. The Congress has helped this region in many ways. However, BJP led State and Central governments showing stepmotherly treatment towards the development of this region,” he said.
According to the party leaders, Congress is planning more padayatras in coming days to strengthen its position in the State ahead of 2023 State Assembly election.
