Bengaluru: An assistant commissioner of police and three police Inspectors have been transferred after receiving complaints of pro-coalition bias from the public. The officials are also accused of many other offences including carrying one sided investigations and threatening prosecutors.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Kumar had recently recommended the transfer of the police officers and the formation of a Joint Investigative Committee against them. Assistant Commissioner of Police Raviprasad P of Yeshwanthpur sub-division, Peenya Police Inspector V T Srinivas, Jnanabharathi PI Shiva Reddy and Yeshwanthpur PI Mudduraju Y are the officials who have been transferred.
Sanjeev Kumar had asked the Director General and Inspector General of police, Karnataka, Neelamani N Raju, to conduct an official inquiry against the accused officials. However, Neelamani N Raju issued a clean chit to the officers. On April 12, Sanjeev Kumar recommended a Joint Investigative Committee involving IAS Officer Shivayogi C Kalasad and IGP Roopa D Moudgil. Kalasad and Moudgil completed the investigation on April 15 and submitted a report to Sanjeev Kumar stating that the officers were found guilty of the accusations made against them.
DG and IGP Neelamani N Raju has transferred ACP Raviprasad P and Inspector V T Srinivas to Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Inspector Shiva Reddy to State Intelligence and Inspector Mudduraju Y to Internal Security Division.
