In a tragic accident during the early hours of April 4 (Friday), a private bus traveling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru overturned at Neerakatte in Bajattur village, resulting in the death of a young passenger and injuring a dozen others.

The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Harsha, a resident of Yadiyoor in Bengaluru. He was reportedly on his way to Mulki along with friends when the mishap occurred.

Twelve other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident. Most of them have been admitted to a private hospital in Uppinangady for treatment. However, one of the injured, whose condition is critical, has been shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced medical care.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, with early reports suggesting that the bus may have lost control due to a sharp turn or fatigue of the driver during the late-night journey. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of overnight long-distance travel, especially on interior roads.

Emergency services responded promptly to the scene, helping to rescue passengers and transport them to medical facilities. Locals also assisted in the relief efforts during the initial moments after the crash.
