Bengaluru: The Mico Layout police on Tuesday arrested B.Com graduate for allegedly duping several unemployed software engineers by promising them jobs with IT firms in Bengaluru.

The police have identified the accused as Saifulla. According to the police, Saifulla, who opened a job consultancy firm here, would approach techies who had uploaded their resume on job websites. He would then promise them jobs in MNCs for a fee ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 3 lakh. He would provide fake appointment letters, the police said. One of them who was duped was a retired Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department who paid Rs. 1.7 lakh to Saifulla to get a job for his son.

Based on a complaint from a graduate who was duped, the police picked up Saifulla, who allegedly threatened them with dire consequences. The police said the accused had even contested unsuccessfully from HSR Layout in the last BBMP polls on a ticket from a political party.
