Bengaluru: Public Works Department (PWD) Minister H D Revanna, who is allegedly pushing the Rs.15,000 Crore elevated road project in the city has attacked the environmentalists for opposing the proposed project stating this project requires cutting down of just 2,800 trees. “Environmentalists are stating that this project requires the cutting down of 15,000 trees. But according to our survey, just 2,800 trees will be cut down,” he said.

“What can I do if the environmentalists oppose the project? We will continue the project after holding a public consultation. This project being undertaken at a cost of Rs.15,000 Crore is very much required to decongest the road,” he said.

He also made it clear that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will take a final decision on the project implementation.

Revanna also declined to react on the opposition by the forest department to the proposed flyovers in the ecologically sensitive Bandipur Tiger Reserve. “My department is in favour of building flyovers inside the forest. I don’t know about other departments,” he said.
