Mandya: Sumalatha, wife of actor-turned-politician Late MH Ambareesh has reiterated her wish to contest from Mandya Lok Sabha constituency.
The Congress party, which Ambareesh represented and their coalition partner at the state-JD(S) are yet to finalise the seat sharing matrix for the upcoming polls and before this could happen, Sumalatha, a front runner for Congress ticket from Mandya has declared that she is open to contesting from any party.
“I would naturally want a ticket from the Congress because that is the party my husband represented. However, the people from Mandya and Ambareesh fans have been pressurising me to contest the polls, irrespective of party attributes. I am thinking on these lines as well,” she told reporters after completing rituals held after three months of the sad demise of her husband Ambareesh at Kanteerava studio, on Sunday.
“I had promised my husband that I will stand by the people of Mandya. I am entering politics because of two reasons, one to fulfil the promise made to my husband and second to repay the debt of Mandya that we carry with us,” she said adding that Ambareesh had nurtured several dreams for Mandya and that she is well aware of his political dreams and his dreams for Mandya. “My entry into politics will give me a platform to fulfil the dreams,” she said.
