Bengaluru: Hitting hard at the Tamil Nadu Bandh called for demanding Cauvery water, state law minister TB Jayachandra on Tuesday said that “our dams are not meant to release water for TN.”
Addressing media at Vidhana Soudha premises, he vented angst against the Tamil Nadu government and dubbed the state-wide Bandhl as blackmail tactics. The leadership of the state counterpart should understand the reality and act sensibly, he said. “Its unfair to demand water for the onslaught Sambha and Kuruvai crops well in advance when the state is reeling under drought situation and dead shortage for drinking water too,” he said.
Adding further, he said that the reports suggest that TN has sufficient water storage for irrigation and drinking water in its reservoirs. On this account, the demand put forth is uncalled for. “Come what may, we will not release water to Tamil Nadu by sacrificing the interests of state,” he cautioned
