Bengaluru: BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders on Tuesday, October 1, for not responding to the flood situation in the state promptly.
Speaking at the Vidhana Soudha here on Tuesday, he said, “PM Modi has time to tweet for the flood victims of Bihar and not Karnataka.”
Criticizing the Members of Parliament from the state for not responding to the flood victims, Yatnal said, “The people of the state have elected 25 MPs and have sent them to Delhi. They must remember that the people of the state have also shown the big names of the political fraternity their way home. These MPs are of no big deal. If they continue to work in this manner, the people will give them a befitting reply.”
He said that he, being a political leader from the Northern Karnataka region, was not able to face the people of that region as the BJP government in the state and at the Centre did not respond to the state’s flood victims promptly.
Yatnal said, “Give me a chance and I’ll form a delegation and take them to Delhi to meet PM Modi. We will discuss the relief funds as I have the experience of being an MP and I know how to deal with matters.”
Meanwhile, he also criticized MP Tejasvi Surya and state Rural Development Minister K S Eshwarappa saying that it is not enough for one to sit in the AC room and work.
“We have gone to every village of the state and from door-to-door to build this party. Sitting in AC rooms will not help the party grow,” he stated.
It can be recalled that yesterday, PM Modi had tweeted, “Spoke to Bihar CM @NitishKumar ji regarding the flood situation in parts of the state. Agencies are working with local administration to assist the affected. Centre stands ready to provide all possible further assistance that may be required.”
The tweet received flak on Twitter from the people of the state who claimed that he had neglected Karnataka’s flood victims.
