Bengaluru: In a brutal khakigiri, a 23-year-old KAS aspirant was allegedly assaulted by police constables which prompted her to attempt suicide. the young girl is now battling for life in ICU.
Victim Shwetha had opposed a move by neighbour named Prabhu who tried to install water pipes in a land belonging to Shwetha’s father. Few police constables attached to Maadanayakanahalli police station who accompanied Prabhu brutally assaulted the girl when she objected. The assault prompted the girl to attempt suicide on June 8 in K G Lakkenahalli. However, in a bid to save her her parents rushed her to Sparsh Hospital. Girl who has slipped into coma has been battling for life in the hospital since then.
Meanwhile, before taking the extreme step the girl had left behind a suicide note which is reportedly in the custody of police. In the note Shwetha has alleged that she was beaten up by the constables.
It is learnt that when the victim’s relatives went to lodge a complaint, the cops refused to do so. Now the family members have sought SP’s help. Bengaluru Rural SP Amit Singh has assured action.
