Bengaluru: Taking into cognizance the inflammatory speech made by Srirame Sene chief Pramod Muthalik here, the Bengaluru police on Monday, July 3 registered a suo moto case against the leader.
Addressing a rally here at at Maurya Circle on July 2 as part of the state-wide protests opposing the Iftar party held for Muslims at Shri Krishna Mutt, Muthalik warned of a blood bath if such programmes were allowed in temples in the future.
“Henceforth, we will not allow holding of Iftar parties in any of the temples including Sri Krishna Mutt at Udupi. We will thwart any attempt to hold such parties henceforth even if that entails bloodshed,” Muthalik had said on Sunday demanding that the mutt premises be cleansed as it had harboured Muslims in its premises.
Muthalik has been charged under section 153a promoting enmity between two religious groups.
Similar protests were also staged in Mangaluru, Udupi as well as various parts of the state demanding that the Pejawar seer apologise publicly for having hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community.
Speaking to reporters here, the Pejawar Swami said that he was unperturbed by the protests and refused to comment on Muthalik’s speech.
