Bengaluru: The police have arrested three men and seized 75 kg marijuana, which they had allegedly concealed in polystyrene boxes under heaps of dry fish. The accused were selling the banned substance next to a college on Bannerghatta Road.

The police have identified the accused as Govindaraj, 29, a resident of Kothanur and native of Tamil Nadu, Basavaraj, 28, a resident of Yelachanahalli, and Magendra, 22, a resident of JP Nagar and native of Chamarajanagar. All of them are wall painters by profession who got into drug peddling to earn extra money.

The accused would wrap small quantities of marijuana in aluminium foil and sell it to customers. “They would pass off the foiled package as rotis,” said a senior police officer.

In another case, the Koramangala police arrested Naveen Kumar, 29, and seized 40 kg marijuana from him on Tuesday. In the third case, the Mico Layout police arrested Jagar Samal, 30, and his associate Lokanath Sahini, 32, and seized 15 kg marijuana from them.
