Bengaluru: An accused was given the ‘third degree’ treatment by the police here on Thursday, September 12, in connection with an alleged sexual abuse case.
The accused (name not disclosed) is a technician reported to be working in one of the prominent firms in the city. He was accused of sexually abusing a girl who works in a lower-level job.
A video, purported to be that of the accused’s ill-treatment, has now surfaced and showcases the brutal way in which he was beaten up. The video was reportedly taken inside the Subramanya Nagar Police Station.
In the video, it can be observed that the accused is being punished with a brutal treatment called the “Bombay Cut”. His feet are seen tied to a cane and he is lifted up with his face turned towards the floor. Later, the Sub Inspector (SI) is seen repeatedly beating him with a cane on his leg. He is also hit with a hockey stick which breaks on impact.
The act was caught on camera by a staff of the police station. It is being said that the video was made due to a rivalry with the SI, as according to the rules, the police are not supposed to treat the accused in such a manner. The video is expected to cost the SI his job.
