Bengaluru: Nine-year-old Sai Charan, who was recently severely injured after coming in contact with a live wire in Mahalakshmi layout on Friday evening, is now facing an issue of receiving funds from the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), due to the model code of conduct.
BBMP Mayor Gangambike, who held a meeting with the concerned officials, said that the funds for the boy’s treatment can be released only after the elections and not now.
“I’ll have a meeting with the officials and will soon take a decision on releasing the funds for Charan’s treatment,” she said.
“The incident was caused by illegal electric connections. Live electric wires are hanging outside parks and on the roadsides, becoming a huge issue and creating problems,” she added.
Gangambike then directed the officials to rectify the issues at the earliest and to not neglect this matter any further.
Meanwhile, Mahalakshmi Layout MLA Gopalaiah met Charan and his parents and inquired about his health. He assured that he would take the responsibility of clearing Charan’s hospital bills and look after his education expenses.
Charan, who is being treated at the Columbia Asia Hospital, is now slowly recovering.
