Bengaluru: After the shocking death of Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Dharmegowda, JDS leader and former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said that it was a death caused due to the ‘polluted, unethical and selfish politics’ in the state.
Dharmegowda was found dead near a railway track at Kadur in Chikkamagaluru on Tuesday morning. It is suspected to be a case of suicide and the police probe is on in this direction.
Kumaraswamy, in a tweet said that the JDS party’s secular principles were put to test to bag the Council Chairman’s post by a few elements and in the bid Dharmegowda has been lost.
“The ones who have tested us have got their answers. They need to retrospect now.” he tweeted.

It may be recalled that on December 15 commotion broke out inside the Legislative Council when Deputy Chairman Dharmegowda sat on the Chairman’s seat and ended up getting heckled by the Congress legislators who accused him of siding with the BJP to move No Confidence Motion against Chairman Prathap Chandra Shetty.
Merely 15 days after the incident, Dharmegowda’s death has sent shockwaves across the state and many have now been questioning if this could be a suicide?
Meanwhile, JDS MLC BM Farooq has said that Dharmegowda was upset after the recent commotion in the Council.
“He was saddened about the council incident. He was depressed when I met him after that. He didn’t want any position. His facial expression said that he was influenced to sit on a chair that day by someone.” Farooq told.
The last rites of Dharmegowda will be held in his native village and Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa will take part.
