Bengaluru: A film star supporting a tribal movement? Sounds strange? Yes. South Indian film star Prakash Rai who is known as Prakash Raj in Tamil and Telugu film industries has silently contributed to a remarkable cause.
Thousands of landless tribals held a dharna between June 15 and 23 in the Freedom park of the city under the leadership of freedom fighter Dr. HS Doreswamy. Organisers incurred bill of Rs. 6 lakh for various arrangements especially for food and accommodation of the agitators. But they were able to collect only upto Rs.3 lakh.
Now according to the organizers, Prakash Rai has issued a cheque of Rs. 75,000 towards the pending payments of this agitation. Another actor Achyuta Kumar has donated Rs. 5,000 towards the expenses of this agitation.
