Bengaluru: Senior police officer Praveen Kumar Sood has been appointed as the new DG-IGP of the state. He took charge late on Friday, January 31 evening from outgoing DG-IGP Neelamani R Raju, who is now retired.
Sood is a 1986 batch police officer. According to sources, A M Prasad, a 1985 batch officer is likely to move the CAT challenging Sood’s appointment as it was against the rules of seniority.
Sood, who started his career as ASP of Nanjanagud of the Mysuru district, has served in places all over the state. He also served as the Commissioner of Police of Mysuru and Bengaluru. He is an alumnus of IIM Bengaluru.
Speaking to the media, he said that his first priority will be maintaining law and order and bringing reforms in the police system.
