Bengaluru’s Jagriti Theatre in Whitefield is set to host the premiere of “The 31st February,” a unique play set in 1980s Bombay. The storyline revolves around Harshvardhan Mehra, who finds himself entangled in a murder mystery and on the run to clear his name, delving into the secrets of “The 31st February,” a clandestine organization.
Director Priyanshu Kumar Mishra brings Alfred Hitchcock’s movie “The 39 Steps” to the Hindi stage with this adaptation. Mishra mentions the rarity of Hitchcock adaptations in Hindi plays and presents his version of the acclaimed thriller.
The production faces the challenge of portraying over 40 characters with only seven actors, adding complexity to the comedic mystery. Despite the hurdles, Mishra is excited about the Bengaluru premiere and has plans to showcase the play at Mumbai’s Prithvi Theatre in the future.
