Channabasavanna has urged the public to install CC cameras at their residences and businesses. The locally installed cameras will be registered with the police department. In case of a crime, police will access these recordings to expedite the identification and apprehension of suspects. Access to camera footage is strictly limited to criminal investigations. Homeowners and shopkeepers will be approached for footage only if a crime occurs in their vicinity. Additionally, guidance will be provided for proper camera installation if needed.

Following the Dallas Police model, Bidar police will acknowledge individuals who register their CC cameras with a letter of appreciation, encouraging community involvement in this safety initiative.

The Dallas Police Department operates a program called “CONNECT DALLAS”. This initiative allows private residents and business owners to register their security cameras to an online portal. The portal is secure and only accessible with permission, ensuring privacy. Law enforcement can use this registry to quickly locate relevant cameras that may provide evidence for crimes or crucial information for public safety. The system also includes advanced features like real-time vehicle information capture through cameras developed by Flock Safety, which can alert law enforcement when a license plate associated with a stolen vehicle or wanted felon is detected.
