Bengaluru: President Ram Nath Kovind lauded the state of Karnataka for its rich cultural legacy and the commitment of its people to education and public service. Speaking at the centenary celebrations of the National Education Society in Bangalore, President Kovind highlighted the state’s significant contributions to education and its tradition of giving back to society.

The National Education Society, founded by freedom fighter Annie Besant, was commended for its role in nurturing distinguished individuals who have made a mark in various fields. President Kovind acknowledged the alumni of the Society’s National High School, including ISRO Chairman A.S. Kiran Kumar, former Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachalaiah, cricketer Anil Kumble, and former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, among others.

During the event, President Kovind praised the Adamya Chetana Foundation for its Annapurna project, which provides mid-day meals to approximately 100,000 children daily in Karnataka. Emphasizing the importance of mid-day meals, he stated that it promotes education and serves as a nutritious meal for children from less privileged backgrounds.

Later in the day, President Kovind visited the new campus of the Amruta Institute of Engineering and Management Sciences (AIEMS) in Bidadi, Ramanagara district. He advised students to view education as an opportunity to give back to society and encouraged them to embrace entrepreneurship, contributing to India’s innovation and start-up culture.

President Kovind also participated in the 22nd convocation of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, emphasizing the significance of mental health education and research.

The President’s visit to Karnataka underscored the state’s role as a hub of education, culture, and innovation, and his remarks highlighted the importance of education in shaping individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.
