Bengaluru: Authorities in Hoskote successfully intervened to prevent a child marriage between a 15-year-old girl and a 25-year-old boy. Acting on specific information, the District Child Protection Unit, along with officials from other relevant departments, conducted a raid on the welfare hall where the wedding reception was scheduled to take place.

The timely intervention prevented the marriage from proceeding, as the girl was rescued just as the wedding rituals were about to begin. The rescued girl was subsequently placed in a child welfare institution in Doddaballapur.

Further action against those involved in the attempted child marriage will be taken following a decision by the Child Protection Committee.
