Bengaluru: The private healthcare workers in the city want the central government to pay for their second dose of vaccination like it did with the first one. The Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes’ Association (PHANA) is going to write on the issue to the health minister

As per the guidelines given by the government, all those who are receiving the vaccination from March 1 will have to pay.” The hospitals can also pay on their behalf. We have told them to take it at a nearby government facility,” said Dr Arundhathi Chandrashekar, mission director (Karnataka), National Health Mission.

Dr HM Prasanna of PHANA said that all the healthcare workers must be given the second dose free and that he will write on this matter to the health minister. He said that it would be a hassle to register the private healthcare workers in the government hospitals again.

The government had put a price tag of Rs 250 for the second dose of vaccination from private hospitals for the Health workers. The first dose was provided free of cost for them. A few healthcare facilities and medical colleges have decided to only collect Rs 100 from their employees.
