Bengaluru: The joint session of the state Legislative Assembly and Council will begin on February 17 and will continue till March 30 in two phases. However, the Speaker has denied permission to private news channel cameramen to enter the Assembly.

State Legislative Assembly Speaker Vishweshwar Hegade Kageri made an announcement in this regard.

The first phase of the session will be held between February 17 and 20 and the second phase will start on March 2 and continue till the 30th. On March 5, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will present the State Budget.

Kageri said that, like the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the Speaker’s office will only provide visuals to the electronic media.

This decision is likely to lead to another round of war of words between the ruling BJP and Opposition parties as the latter are against Speaker’s decision.
