Bengaluru: In a major embarrassment to the BJP state government, a letter allegedly sent from the Rajbhavan to senior IPS officer Ravikanthe Gowda (who was heading the Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to probe the IMA scam) directed him to provide protection to Shivajinagar MLA and former Minister Roshan Baig. The Governor’s letter was leaked to the press.
According to the letter, Vala had asked Gowda to provide protection to Roshan Baig who is a witness in the IMA scam.
The letter, dated July 17, came at a time when the entire state was in a political turmoil. It can be be recalled that on July 16, when Baig was trying to travel to Mumbai from KIAL, the SIT had stopped him.
“This is proof of how the Governor’s office was misused by the BJP. How can Baig become a witness when he is facing charges of corruption?,” said a Congress leader.
