PU board withdraws ban on laptops after widespread student protests

Bengaluru: Mere hours after the state Pre-University Board announced that laptops would be banned in colleges, student protests broke out in opposition, forcing the board to retract the order. They have, however, retained the ban on smartphones.

The circular was earlier issued by the board banning the use of smartphones and laptops by PU students in government and aided colleges during class hours.

The students, however, objected to the ban on the use of laptops in the college and termed the ban “senseless.”

The widespread backlash towards the ban forced the PU board to withdraw the order soon after it was announced, except the one on smartphones.
