Bengaluru: The Department of Pre University Education has directed all the government and the government aided Pre University colleges to introduce biometric-based attendance system using the Aadhaar number of all the teaching and non-teaching staff immediately. All the colleges have been given the June 3 deadline for the implementation of the new system.
According to the authorities, the state government directed the colleges to introduce online biometric-based attendance system back in 2013 itself. “But colleges didn’t follow the directions citing lame excuses.
But following a large number of complaints from the students and parents that the teaching and non-teaching staff are not attending duty properly, now it has been decided to make the biometric attendance with Aadhaar number compulsory,” said an officer from the department.
“All the colleges have been asked to furnish a report in regard to implementation of the new system immediately,” he added.
