Bengaluru: The agitating PU lecturers are mulling over to take their strategy into next level by going for hunger strike from April 13 onwards if their demands are not met.
The lecturers gathered in protest against government over implementation of Kumar Naik report have reportedly decided to go on hunger strike after the re-examination of chemistry paper on April 12.
Speaking to News Karnataka, Dr. Naveen Halemane, heading one of the lecturers’ factions who are agitating, said, “the ongoing agitation is to find a logical end to the partiality and disparity among the teachers fraternity which is virtually created by the recent governments,” he said.
We hope government would fulfil our demands within the time frame. If not, we are ready to face any consequences henceforth, Halemane added.
Meanwhile, Minister for Education, Kimmane Rathnakar, has said the government is ready with alternative for evaluation if the agitators don’t bow down.
Imposing Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) on lecturers is also in pipeline but it would be last option, he added.
